I drive to work everyday, which means I often get to see local policemen trying to make the morning rush hour a little less heavier on all of us. Managing traffic in a big city is surely a hard work! If you feel curious and want to try it for yourself, have a look at this fun online game.

Your aim in Crash is to manage traffic successfully in a multiple road intersection, by simply adjusting the speed of cars and trucks going by. Use your mouse and click on any vehicle to speed it up, or click it again to slow it down. The more vehicles reach their destination, the higher score you obtain. You can also make some extra points at the end of each stage by crashing on bad cars, which are marked with a dreary skull.

Google has finally released Google Transit, their public transport mapping system. The service now integrates into Google Maps and will provide itineraries and maps for your daily transit trip. Enter where you start from, where you want to go, the time you want to leave at or the time you want to arrive at and Google Transit will display directions and a carefully prepared route on Google Maps. For now, the service is still only available for a few states in the U.S like California, Texas or Florida, and also for Japan but apparently Google is hard at work to extend it to other parts of the U.S and Europe.
To make use of Google Transit immediately you can install the Minimap Sidebar Extension for Firefox. This plugin opens up Google Maps in your browser's sidebar. Owners of handheld devices can also go for Google Maps for Mobile, available for Palm, phones and Pocket PC. Mac users will have to go to the Google Transit or Google Maps sites to make use of the transit tool. Or, if they live in California they can install two really cool widgets on their Dahsboards. SigAlert Traffic Maps shows the flow of traffic in nine different areas of Northern and Southern California and Phoenix, including speed of traffic and accidents. Bay Area nine to fivers can set up the BART Widget, a cool looking trip planner for the San Francisco Bay Area, complete with a map of the whole commuter rail system. You can also set bookmarks for different points of your trip.

Many people are scared of spiders but when it comes to the kind sent by search engines, webmasters are generally happy to let them crawl all over their site. Of course, it’s a good thing for your ranking to have these little pieces of code looking at your pages regularly to check for updates. Recently though, site administrators have been getting a little ticked off with Yahoo!’s new spidering tactics. By using a different IP address for each page the search giant checks, many people are now finding their bandwidth being choked.
It looks as if Yahoo! isn’t in a rush to change its new spidering techniques, but thankfully, if you’re being blighted by a plague of spiders there are measures you can take to block them. One measure is to use the following meta tag to talk to the spiders: "" You will need this META tag on every page in your Web site that you don't want indexed. Obviously if you have a lot of pages on your site this may take a while, so grab yourself a decent HTML editor like Arachnophilia, which allows you to perform a global search and replace and add an HTML header tag to every Web page that you open in the program.
An alternative to this method is to download one of the spider-blocking scripts from TechPatterns to help you cut down on the amount of traffic search engines like Yahoo! are sending to your site.
