icloud iconApple has enabled the option for your Apple ID, following the steps of Google, Dropbox, and other companies like Twitter and Evernote who are working on implementing this feature. Your Apple ID is connected to your iOS devices, iTunes, and iCloud account. By enabling two-step verification, your  account is more secure, especially if you lose a device.

It’s easy to enable the feature, but there is a waiting period while Apple verifies your devices and sends important login information so you can start using it on your account.

Here’s how to enable Apple ID two-step verification.

Go to the Apple ID page and sign into your account.

Click on Password and Security and answer your security questions.

After you correctly enter your information, the top option under Manage your security settings is Two-Step Verification. Click the “Get Started” link.

There are a few menus to go through, each one telling you how two-step verification works. As you continue through the menus, Apple gives plenty of warnings.

Once you press Get Started, Apple two-step verification will be enabled.

There is a waiting period before you can actually start using the feature and Apple should send you this email after you sign-up.

Recently, many tech companies have been compromised, leading to stolen user information. Two-step verification is one way you can secure your account from unwanted access. It’s not a fool-proof means to protect online information, but this will give you more time to access and change your account information if you see or are informed of a security breach.
