Windows: Creating a photo slideshow can be a pain if you don't have the right tool. Mac: There's no doubt that MP3 is king when it comes to all things audio. If your music or audio isn't in Mp3 format then you need a simple way to convert it which is what All2MP3 does. After starting the program, you simply drag and drop files onto the program window and select the quality of target files. All you have to do is click on the All2MP3 button and you're done!

Windows: If your singing talent is limited to private shower gigs with no musical training, Songsmith is for you. This great app, currently a Microsoft research project, lets you create songs in just a few steps: pick up a preset style and a tempo, think about some words and get ready to sing. The program will fit the tune arounf your voice and produce a surprisingly good result. Once done, you can save the song as WMA, WAV or MIDI.

iPhone: If you're a fan of NFL then Finger Football is one iPhone game you can't afford to miss. This simple gridiron game is pretty far-removed from the real thing, but that doesn't stop it being immensely addictive. The object of Finger Football is to try and score a touchdown by flicking the ball so it stops on the edge of the goal line.

Mac: Need a better way to manage your iPod or your Motorola mobile phone? Floola can be run directly from either and yet requires no installation and manages your files in a smarter way. It supports almost all features offered by iPods including photos, artwork, podcasts and smart playlists and automatically converts any incompatible audio or video file.

Windows: when you have so many passwords you can hardly remember them, you know it's time to start using a password manager and MyPadlock Password Manager can lend you a hand here. This handy tool creates a database to securely store all your usernames and passwords under a single master password - the only one you'll have to remember from now on.

Pocket PC: If you're a big pinball fan but can't be bothered to drag yourself down to the local arcade, it might be worth installing Pinball Evolution on your Pocket PC. Pinball Evolution is a fab looking pinball sim for your mobile, which plays almost like the real thing. The game includes three different table layouts - a ship, a factory, and even a motocross course

Mac: If you are a heavy user of a PayPal, then you should have some way of keeping track of your payments and outgoings. Paypal provides it's own limited services for this but GaragePay goes a lot further by providing a complete archive with which you can download, view, search and archive all your transactions made through PayPal.

Windows: What if you could take part in one of those horrifying stories you watch in terror movies? F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the perfect mixture of action and terror: a first-person shooter where your opponents are not only enemy soldiers, but also a bunch of scary ghosts that will send shivers down your spine. Are you ready for the challenge?

Mac: Have you ever marveled at those pictures where the objects in the foreground have been given a special focus to make them standout? Usually it takes the work of a brilliant photographer or special focus lens to achieve such an effect but you can do it too with any photo using Edit Depth of Field. Edit Depth of Field allows you to focus the viewer on the subject of a photo by bringing it into sharp contrast and blurring the background.

BlackBerry: If you like Poker but can’t quite pull the right face at the right moment perhaps you should be looking for a similar yet slightly simpler card game. And that card game could be Croker. Instead of numbers in Croker you play with pictures - frogs, pigs, dice and baskets of fruit. It’s the way the French play, apparently

Pocket PC: I don't know about you but I find typing on my Pocket PC a real chore. Windows: Keeping your system clean is important because it optimizes performance, improves stability and saves disk space. Windows: There are many tools that let you download videos from YouTube and convert them to other formats. Pocket PC: Let’s face it, the default Contacts section in Windows Mobile isn’t all that good. That’s why it’s a good idea to install a third party address book application onto your Pocket PC as soon as you get it out of the box. Inesoft Address Book proves to be one of the best options you’ll encounter, offering a wonderful environment for storing and managing your contacts.

Windows: if you need to take screenshots on a daily basis and don't want to use a massive photo editor for that simple task, use Free Screen Capturer instead. Blackberry: There are times when we all have to have conversations we don’t really want to, but thanks to VR+ you don’t actually have to be there when they take place. The Blackberry application allows you to record voice messages in MP3 format on your device then send them as an SMS message or via a URL.
