The ultimate free home entertainment app?

GameEx logoIf you're one of those who can't be bothered installing separate components for different tasks then you should take a look at GameEx. Despite the name, GameEx is virtually an entire entertainment solution ranging from gaming to video reproduction and even news reading. It features a bundle of emulators for gaming fans (including MAME and Zinc) as well as a fully comprehensive music player, jukebox, picture and slide show viewer, e-book and comic book reader plus a CD player/ripper with automatic look-up of CD information and news reader.

Many of the components can be controlled via a Gamepad including the DVD player. Registered users - which is free - can also use GameExtender which is a type of networked LCD display which connects you with hundreds of other gamers and users across the net enabling you to play against them and share movies, music etc. Often when you get such a large software pack, you inevitably get components that are better than others but as an all-in-one solution for your entertainment needs, it's definitely worth a try.
