So the first major update to Windows Vista is here at last, fourteen months after Microsoft's latest operating system was finally released. Many potential Vista customers were advised at launch to "Wait for Service Pack 1" - so was this advice valid?

I thought that the service pack 1 for vista was already long on the site :P But what has changed so far maybe??? Does i comes then al already automatically with the automatic updates of vista?
Hey Jelle - the Release Candidate was listed on Softonic for a while but the final edition only came out yesterday, so far as I know. Yes, Windows Update should also be deploying the Service Pack but it's always good to have the download too, just in case. The changes are detailed in my review and they're not amazing... but they do make Vista a bit better :-)
Oh so the service pack will be automatically downloaded by the automatic updates you say??? --- I wanted to watch your review but when i clicked on the link, i just get an empty page...
Jelle - thanks for the tip.. d'oh! I've fixed the link. Yes, if you have an activated installation of Vista, Windows Update should at some point automatically prompt you to install SP1.
do you know also on what day i will get that update cause i get updates frequently but i didn't have the sp1 yet. No other updates too today and yesterday! but that's pretty normal...
oh yeah and do you also know if there is already a release in dutch?
Jelle - sorry, no idea when your PC will be prompted to download the update. As to Dutch - no, there isn't a Dutch version available yet. It'll be out in mid-April. See this MS blog for some more detail (in Dutch!)
ok thnx then i will just wait till mid-april :P
